    The last furlong

Right 6k away from getting THF to 37 where I can leave it till I decide to take it to 45 eventually. However I've now been LFP for two nights and no sign of a party.

So can you give me an easy place to Solo this last 6k or as much as possible before I kill myself!

    Cheers people!

a handfull of xp scroll quests should do the trick.

all of which are good for an xp scroll worth between 750 and 1500. figure about 1100 each, do spice gals/uninvited guests (grab an enm while you're there for some free cash and xp on a 40+ job), secrets of ovens lost (does it get any easier than this?), and escort for hire and you should have that level in no time at all.

    And don't forget Dragon Chronicles

It is fairly safe to do Bastok to San d'Oria or San d'Oria to Bastok for a nice 500-1000 XP for 20 minutes worth of effort. (You could do a Bastok/San d'Oria run to or from Windurst for a Page from Miratete's Memoirs, but you can easily get screwed if you don't know the route perfectly.)

I got a lot of my THF XP from XP scrolls. It really does beat parties.

I should put up a map sometime... I can get from San d'Oria to Windurst consistently under 28 minutes, due to some nifty shortcuts in Jugner and Meriphataud. I used to do the San d'Oria -> Bastok route weekly, until a friend of mine took the time to demonstrate the San d'Oria -> Windurst route.

I don't have any space for hosting, but if I were to get the maps from ffxi-atlas.com and draw the route on them, maybe someone could put them up?

Free photo hosts like imageshack.us and photobucket should do okay. I'd like to see your Windurst route, I always do crapilly on that one

Probably be a little slow, but Bloody Bolts + Flesh Eaters in Attohwa? Range from 34-37 according to Somepage, so you should be able to do alright.

"The Last Furlon" sounds like some new sci-fi movie aimed at kids.

I solo'd Mandragoras in Yhoator from 32-37DRK using bloody bolts. If it's possible on DRK with their shit Marksmanship, I'm sure it's possible on THF.

    Re: The last furlong

Necro! Someone sent a PM asking me, and I had some spare time today, so I made that map of the chocobo race route that I mentioned before. I'll also include my comments about bits to watch for.

    http://i187.photobucket.com/albums/x...rr/RaceMap.jpg

West Ronfaure: Usually you want to go at an angle such that you zip behind the outpost.

La Theine Plateau: Don't start heading east too early or you'll get caught up on terrain. You should be able to drop down and gently curve around to a due east heading. You want to skim along the north side of the crag towards the zone.

Jugner Forest: There's a bridge where it crosses the river just south of the lake. If you hit it at the right angle (not terribly difficult), you'll zip right across. Might want to practice a few times with a rented bird from Holla.

Batallia Downs: Nothing special. As usual, be careful not to get caught on weird terrain as you go over hills. Try to cut around when possible rather than crest steep hills.

    Rolanberry Fields: No brainer.

Sauromugue Champaign: Head like you're going to Garlaige, then keep going east. I usually end up veering south around the mini-fortress at the east end of the cliff.

Meriphataud Mountains: This is the most important bit. Head towards the outpost, then south from it to cross a bridge over the road. Head eastward along the south side of the road; go south when you can. Then head SW towards the small mountains; you'll pass the Ballista folks. Don't drop onto the road until you're at the point where you can run right off again, south around the mini-mountain. When you pass the mini-mountain, you want to head south to cross a second bridge over the road, then head towards the zone. The mini-bridges save a lot of time. Try to see the place beforehand so you know where they are.

Tahrongi Canyon: Start along the east side of the road, and then cross over the first minibridge. From there you head south; you can shortcut when the roadside cliffs are low to save time. I tried to mark it out. Be sure to take the shortcut through the southern half.

West Sarutabaruta: Straight shot to the goal!

That's the route I take. Now that I'm used to it, I can consistently come in at 28 minutes, giving me 20 seconds of leeway.

iirc, short runs from sandy to bastok via VD are dragon chronicles, usable at lvl 4 and worth 500-1000 xp
    http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/Dragon_Chronicles
while the long run from windy to sandy detailed above yields a miratete's memoirs usable at lvl 20 and worth 750 to 1500 xp.

If you have an npc, sub nin and go fight spider pet in altep. I was getting 3-5k/hours solo on rdm/nin there. Probably doable with markmanship capped without npc.

    Re: The last furlong

So to complete the chocobo racing quest, do you just zone into the target city without dismounting, or what? Do you have to go in the entrance that has stables?

    Re: The last furlong

Just zone in, a CS will start once you hit the entrance to the city (well, right in front of the entrance but don't stop and wait for it or anything).
